Virtual therapy that gives you space to heal and grow, from the comfort of your own space.

Welcome to Malaya Therapy

When life feels heavy, you deserve a steady place to land. Malaya is a virtual psychotherapy practice grounded in compassion and cultural humility.

Malaya means “free” in Tagalog. That spirit guides our work together: slowing down, naming what’s here, and making room for new ways forward, at your pace.

Founded by Erika Olis, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), sessions are collaborative and evidence-informed, with a steady focus on doable next steps. If you’re looking for support with burnout, boundaries, or self-confidence, you’re in the right place.

Therapy that starts with you.

What this can feel like:

  • Find words for what feels foggy

  • One gentle next step after each session

  • Pacing that respects your time, energy, and budget

  • Secure video platform

  • Receipts for insurance

You don’t have to arrive with perfect words or a neat timeline. We begin with what’s here - overwhelm, blank space, mixed feelings, and pace the work to your energy and budget. I offer culturally sensitive, LGBTQ+ affirming care. Sessions blend person-centred therapy with approaches that turn insight into small, doable steps you can use this week.

Who I help

Common reasons people start therapy here. If you don’t see yourself, you’re still welcome.

Want to ask a few questions first?

  • Morning dread, crash‑and‑carry cycles, overfunctioning.

We’ll work on steadying your nervous system, setting kinder rhythms, and building boundaries you can keep.

  • Time blindness, task initiation, perfectionism + paralysis.

We’ll create planning that fits your brain, soften the self‑talk, and use tiny focus sprints that actually stick.

  • people‑pleasing, guilt, cultural/immigrant expectations, triangulation.

We’ll practice scripts that say no softly and stay close, at a pace that respects your context.

  • Spirals, worry loops, panic cues.

We’ll pair body‑based calming with CBT/ACT tools so you can unhook from thoughts and find pockets of rest.

  • Inner critic, perfectionism, identity exploration.

We’ll work on growing a kinder voice and deepening self‑trust without losing your edge.

  • Job change, school decisions, moves, role shifts.

We’ll map values, reduce decision fatigue, and take one low‑pressure step at a time.

  • Code‑switching fatigue, family roles, intergenerational pressure.

Culturally sensitive care with space for heritage, nuance, and choice.

Erika Olis

BASc, MACP, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

I’m Erika, the heart behind Malaya Therapy. I started this practice to create the kind of space I once wished for myself; a place where you can show up exactly as you are, without judgment, and begin to untangle what feels heavy.

I believe you already carry the wisdom you need, and therapy is about helping you hear it more clearly. I work from an eclectic, integrative approach, drawing from person-centred, . In practice, that means I don’t rigidly follow one method; instead, I bring in different evidence-based tools and perspectives based on where you are and what you need, with pacing that respects your energy and goals.

Whether you’re navigating burnout, ADHD, life transitions, or questions of identity, you’ll find a supportive space to pause, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward feeling freer - malaya.
