Malaya. A place to come home to yourself.
Malaya Therapy is a virtual psychotherapy practice supporting adults across Ontario who may look like they are managing on the outside while quietly navigating burnout, ADHD, anxiety, people-pleasing, self-doubt, relationship concerns, or the weight of cultural and family expectations.
Here, you do not need to arrive with the right words or a perfectly defined goal. Therapy begins with where you are, and makes room for where you would like to go.
OUR NAME
Why Malaya?
Malaya (mah-lah-yah) means free in Tagalog.
Choosing a Tagalog name for this practice was intentional. It reflects part of Erika’s identity as a Filipina therapist, while also representing the kind of freedom therapy can help make room for.
Freedom does not always mean changing your entire life.
Sometimes it means trusting yourself after years of second-guessing. Resting without guilt. Setting a boundary. Understanding your mind with greater compassion. Making choices based on your values rather than constantly trying to meet everyone else’s expectations.
Malaya Therapy was created as a space where you can pause, understand what you have been carrying, and reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have become buried beneath pressure, responsibility, burnout, or self-doubt.
